Subhachandra killing Subhachandra's associate arrested

Imphal, January 30, 2011:
A public meeting held at Ishok Mamang Leikai today resolved to press the state government to book the culprits involved in the killing of Huidrom Subachandra of the locality on Saturday afternoon.
Other demands include a government job for the wife of the deceased so that she could bring up the three little children left by Subachandra, to investigate into the motive behind the killing, to give ` 10 lakh as ex-gratia.
The meeting also decided to ban the entry of outsiders in Ishok area after 7 pm.
Earlier, one Huidrom Barchandra (29) came to the public meeting and said that Subhachandra was shot dead in front of him.
He said that he and Subhachandra went to sell Amway goods on that fateful day.
They had gone to a relative's house at Kamong to have a meal so as to continue their selling of goods.
While they were about to leave the place, Subhachandra was talking to one of his friends over the phone.
Two unidentified youths, one of them with a handgun appeared before them.
They shot Subhachandra without saying a word and left the spot hurrying towards Machin Manou hill, he recalled.
Police arrested Barchandra at the meeting site.
After the meeting, a group of people came to lodge a complaint to the CM at around 3 pm.
But police blocked them near Tiddim ground.
Former Union minister Th Chaoba also joined them.
They could not meet the Chief Minister, who had already left Imphal for New Delhi.
However, they met with CM in-charge, Th Debendra and submitted the memorandum stating their demands.
