Bow made in Manipur presented to PM

Imphal, March 16 2018:
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla, presented a bow made in Manipur to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Luwangpokpa Multi Sports complex today.
The bow, made by B Chaoba Sharma of Bamon Leikai, who is also the elder brother of Manipuri archer B Basanti, was gifted to the Prime Minister, along with a Lengyan Phi during the inauguration and foundation stone laying event at the sports complex by the Governor.
The said Indian round bow is designed specially for the aspiring archers of the State who cannot afford to buy the expensive foreign bows.
According to Youth Affairs and Sports Secretary Bobby Waikhom, the bow was created by B Chaoba around 20 years ago and it has greatly benefited the poor yet determined archers of the State.
The bow has now gained widespread recognition and there are even Indian rounds specially designed for the said bow, he added.
The bow is made out of bamboo and wood and it is gradually being improved with the additional of new and advanced scientific features.
On the other hand, Chief Minister N Biren Singh presented a painting of RK Budhimanta which shows a traditional hut as well as the Luira Phanit festival of the Tangkhuls, a Kokyet as well as a shawl to the PM at the event.
