JNIMS Dental College stall offers free dental treatments to Sangai festival goers

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Dental College's stall at the ongoing Sangai festival at Hapta Kangjeibung is offering free dental treatments to festival goers much to the delight of the people.
In this connection, Assistant Professor Dr Naorem Nena Devi, Department of Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry, JNIMS told media persons that the stall was set up under the supervision of JNIMS Director and Principal, Dental College with the goal of spreading awareness about oral hygiene and oral health among the public.
The stall, which is open from 9 am till 9 pm, sees a daily footfall of around 50-100 patients, sometimes more than a 100 patients, she said.
"Around 50 patients receive teeth scaling treatment, while around 40 get tooth fillings daily", she said while adding that 42 interns and several Assistant Professors help run the stall.
Dr Naorem Nena Devi further shared that the stall offers simple treatment such as scaling, teeth restoration and dental check ups.
For more serious cases such as root canal treatment and so on, the patients are urged to visit JNIMS with the festival ticket which will serve as their hospital ticket.
She also made an appeal to the people of Manipur to stop using tobacco products which are the main cause of diseases such as oral cancer, leukoplakia etc.
Lastly, she expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister N Biren Singh on behalf of the Dental College for assigning them with a stall to spread awareness about oral hygiene and provide certain dental treatment to the people.
Reportedly, many festival goers praised the Dental College's initiative to provide some free dental treatment to the people when the same treatments cost thousands of rupees at private clinics.
