Continuing its ongoing visits conducted to different villages to join Christmas celebrations with an aim to encourage brethren relations, members of United Committee Manipur (UCM) today visited Puilong (Ireng) village, near Singda Bazar and Aimol Kumbirei village of Chandel district and celebrated the festival with the villagers.
The UCM functionaries presented one 500-litre water tank each and volley ball nets etc to these two villages as Christmas gifts.
Speaking at the celebrations of Ireng village, UCM vice-president Y Nabachandra said that although people of the State have embraced different religious faiths according to their wishes, they must not forget that they are brethren having same origin.
Maintaining that many young people have forgotten their own traditions, Nabachandra said that people must nurture the age-old culture left behind by the forefathers.
Another UCM team led by its president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar celebrated Christmas at Aimol Kumberei village.
