Zeliangrong Solidarity Day observed

Imphal, April 04 2022: Zeliangrong Civil Organisations on Monday observed the 88th Zeliangrong Solidarity Day at Longjang (Thangal) village in Noney district.

In a release, Zeliangrong Baudi informed that the Solidarity Day was organised in Longjang village to remember and pay respect to late Tingnampou Pamei and uphold the legacy of the prominent leaders who stood strong for the unity of Zeliangrong people.

Khangluangai Pamei, chairman of Longjang Village Customary Court lit the candle to commemorate the 88th anniversary of Zeliangrong Solidarity Day.

The programme was led by Luikambou Newmai, vice president Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) while M Lunglailung President, Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) delivered the welcome address.

Speaking on the occasion, Poupoklung Kamei, president Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur State Unit reminded the gathering about the importance of the solidarity pledge performed by the forefathers and urged them to honour the sacred event of Zeliangrong Solidarity Day.

"Our forefathers took the Oath of solidarity on that day to strengthen the bond in order to withstand any eventuality and circumstances against the external forces that were prevalent at that time", he added.

Meidinlung Pamei, speaker of Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) urged the gathering to spread the message of love and unity among the brothers.

Many village elders, chairmen secretaries and members of Villages Authorities also spoke on issues pertaining to Zeliangrong people living in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.

They requested the leaders of Zeliangrong Civil Organisations to work tirelessly to strengthen the community.

Titus Kamei, vice president of Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) stated that it is natural to see some differences from time to time in a community like Zeliangrong as they are settled in different states.

"The differences of opinion presently emerging in our society are created by some people with vested interest.

It will disappear soon with fast pace development and progress in education", he added.

He also urged the gathering to understand and digest the issue properly, envisage the prospect of their own future instead of blindly following those leaders with vested interest.

Titus Kamei then declared that from today onwards there shall be no more misunderstanding among the Zeliangrong brothers wherever they are or whichever political groups or organisations they may serve or inclined to.

"It is high time to reconcile those misdeeds and rekindle the Solidarity Day pledge which was taken by our forefathers before man and before God 88 years ago", said Titus while urging the gathering to spread the message of love and unity among the Zeliangrong brothers.
