Imphal, August 31 2024: Khwairamband Keithel and the market in the surrounding areas wore a deserted look today as traders and shopkeepers cease work for the day against the rally taken out by Kuki people demanding disintegration of Manipur.

The Keithels were closed in support to the call raised by Meitei Leima to cease work and stage a sit-in protest against the proposed rally of Kuki people at every locality today.

Some traders and street vendors, however, were seen selling their wares at the keithel as usual although the market wasn't as busy as other normal days.

Movement of passenger vehicles in Imphal areas were also relatively low today compared to other normal days.

Government offices also witnessed low attendance apart from many schools and colleges closing today.
