To celebrate the achievements and to revitalize the District ASHA workers, ASHA Convention Day was organized by the District Health Society (NHM), Senapati, at multipurpose hall, Senapati.
ADC Chairman M L Markson graced the function as chief guest, our correspondent reports.
More than 250 ASHA workers attended the convention.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr H Loli Mao, Director/CMO, DHS, Senapati, said ASHA workers serve as the bridge between the medical community and rural folks.
ASHA workers also play a vital role in taking preventative measures during an outbreak of a disease or epidemic in the society.
The success of Immunization and Village Health and Nutrition Day was greatly attributed to the efforts made by ASHAs, the CMO said.
He said the task of an ASHA worker also include assisting sick people, spreading awareness, maintaining register with regard to attendance of medical team visiting the villages etc.
He further urged ASHA workers to continue the voluntary work for the needy.
ML Markson, Chairman, ADC, Senapati, said ASHA workers play a primary role in the development of the health sector.
Eunice, Mayangkhang, CHC Kangpokpi, won the Best ASHA of the District title; D Rebecca, Kalinamai, CHC Mao, was place the second best and L Dosusa, Kaibi, PHC Tadubi was placed the third best.
Consolation prizes were also given to many ASHA workers.
