Imphal, March 30 2016: Laishram Veerjit alias Chaoba, who allegedly murdered his cousin brother yesterday, has been remanded to police custody till April 4 .

He was produced before JMIC Imphal West-1 at around 2 pm today.

A large number of womenfolk from the deceased's locality tried to attack the accused at Lamphelpat Court complex.

It may be mentioned that Laishram Veerjit alias Chaoba (32) s/o Dr L Ranbir of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel allegedly shot his cousin brother Laishram Chinglemba alias Naopa (26) s/o Gandhi of the same locality dead at Mongshangei yesterday.

The accused surrendered to Singjamei police along with the body of the deceased yesterday itself.

Veerjit appeared before the Court under FIR number 58 (3) 2016 of Singjamei police station under Section 365/302-IPC and 24 Arms Act.

During his Court appearance, the investigating officer pleaded the Court for six days' police custody remand of the accused.

According to the enquiry report submitted by the investigating officer to the Court, on March 29 at around 12.15 pm, Laishram Veerjit forcibly took his cousin brother Laishram Chinglemba alias Naopa in his white Maruti Swift car (MN01-S-5586) at gun point from their common residential gate and shot him dead by using his service 9 mm pistol at Mongshangei Makha Leikai.

Later, the accused brought the body in his car and surrendered himself before Singjamei police, hence a case under the FIR number 58 (3) 2016 of Singjamei police station under Section 365/302-IPC and 24 Arms Act was registered for investigation, the report said.

It further said that Singjamei police have seized Veerjit's car and the 9 mm pistol along with two live rounds.

An inquest of the body was conducted by the forensic science experts in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Imphal West.

During the course of the inquest, it was found that the deceased bore two bullet wounds � one on his right knee and another on his right chest.

Two empty cases and one projectile were recovered from the car, the report said.

The police report further said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused had admitted that he shot his cousin brother dead using his service 9 mm pistol.

Earlier, a large number of irate womenfolk tried to attack Veerjit when he was taken to the Court room by police.

After his formal appearance, he could not be brought out from the Court room till 3.30 pm due to the presence of these angry womenfolk at the Court complex.

On the other hand, body of the deceased is still lying unclaimed at RIMS morgue till the time of filing this report.
