Imphal, October 23 2024: A combined team of Kakching commando personnel and Kakching police station carried out a search operation at a buffalo farm at Wabagai this morning and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

According to reliable information, the recovered items include one INSAS Rifle without magazine, one country made 9 mm pistol with magazine along with four live rounds, three Carbine magazines, three hand grenades, four fired cartridges of Insas Rifle ammunition, ten fired cartridges of AK Rifle ammunition, two tear smoke grenades, four tear smoke shells, one Baofeng handset, one bullet proof cover and one leather.

These arms and ammunition were found concealed in the secluded area near a bush at Wabagai buffalo farm.

Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur police recovered 11 weapons and warlike stores from both hill and valley regions in the districts of Churachandpur, Chandel and Thoubal, said a press release issued by IGAR (South) .

An intelligence-based operation launched in Churachandpur on October 22 by Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police and CRPF at Thoroilok area in Churachandpur resulted in the recovery of two country made mortars (pompi), one country made pistol, grenades, explosives, ammunition and war like stores, said IGAR (South) and added that one .303 Rifle, one Single-Barrel Rifle and ammunition were also recovered on the same day from the general area of Lamzang village.

In Chandel district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police carried out a combing operations in areas between Songkhom and Gunjil village and recovered one FGC-9 Mk-II Automatic Weapon (9 mm), two locally-made mortars (Pompi), one Single-Barrel Gun, ammunition, it added.

It also said that Assam Rifles, along with Manipur Police launched a joint search operation in the general area of Kwarok Maring village in Thoubal district today and recovered a cache that includes one 9mm country-made pistol, one Single-Barrel Breech-Loading (SBBL) gun, two grenades, ammunition.
