CCpur/Tbl/Tml/Spt/Tpl/Jiri/Bpr, October 02 2019: As celebrated across the globe, Gandhi Jayanti was observed at different districts of the State, today.

CCpur: Asserting that keeping environment clean is a symbol of Nationalism, T Paukhanlian, Chairman of Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur sought cooperation and support from all concerned to increase the sanitation level of the district.

T Paukhanlian made the statement during 150th birth anniversary observance of Mahatma Gandhi and launching of Gram Panchayat Development Plan organised by District Administration, CCpur and ADC Churachandpur under the theme 'Churachandpur unites against single use plastics'at DTC Hall, Tuibong, today.

Pointing out that waste management and segregation of plastic and other wastes are the problems faced by the ADCC in its efforts to sanitise the district, T Paukhanlian urged all to work together to overcome the problems.

He also spoke the need to sanitise the rivers and water bodies of the district.

Saying that the ideal and philosophy of Gandhi on sanitation is worth emulating, the ADCC Chairman said that it is the collective responsibility of all to save/preserve the environment for posterity.

It may be mentioned here that the ADCC has managed to collect over 2000 kgs of plastic wastes as part of the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign during the last couple of weeks.

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur lauded the achievements of the district administration and ADCC in SHS campaign while appealing all concerned stakeholders to join hands in order to script more success stories.

"Only through unity we can achieve something big," he said.

Chief Executive Officer of ADCC TK Simte said that so far the ADCC has collected more than 2000 kgs of plastic wastes from various schools run by the Council.

He then encouraged all to become ambassadors of cleanliness.

Later, prizes were given to schools which have collected the highest quantity of plastic wastes.

Administering of Swachhta Pledge to the gatherings; distribution of prizes for Poshan Maah 2019 and SHS 2019; felicitation of rag-pickers by ADCC and distribution of jute bags (computer bags) by PHED were the other highlights of the programme.

The function was attended by Thangboi Gangte, ADC Churachandpur; Joycy Lalrinpuii, PO, DRDA and other DLOs and members of VAs among others.

Prior to the programme, cleanliness drive was held by the staff and employees of various departments at their respective office premises.

Cleanliness drive was also carried out at various localities in and around the town today.

TAMENGLONG: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the 'Father of Nation', Tamenglong District Administration today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Indoor Stadium Lower Ground, Tamenglong Headquarter.

Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong; Armstrong Pame, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong; Col Raj Kumar, Commanding Officer, 23rd Assam Rifles and Mohurle Sandip Gopaldas, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tamenglong attended the function as the dignitaries.

As part of the celebration, a mega marathon for men and women under the theme "The run for the plastic free India" was flagged off by Col Rajkumar from public ground and culminated at 5th MR campus.

The top three winners were awarded a cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.

Village Authorities, Ward Members, Students and general public of Tamenglong district took out a mass cleanliness drive from their respective places and ended at Jadonang Park.

A mega programme of the Government combining over 25 programmes from various departments including Social Welfare, Medical and PHED, was also launched at the Indoor Stadium.

On the occasion, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme was also launched.

Health Department put up as many as 15 stalls at the Indoor Stadium and conducted various beneficiaries/programmes of the Government such as 'on-spot registration' of CMHT, CMST and AB-PMJAY.

On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, District Health Administration also observed World Elder's Day at the Indoor Stadium Tamenglong.

At the event, Kajaigai Gangmei, CEO, ADC, Tamenlong launched 'Gram Sabha Development Plan'.

Ramningle Pame, ADC member Tamenglong; Hathing Doungel, ADC member Tamenglong; Hannah Kamei, MCS; Dr G Majachunglu, DACO Tamenglong are some of the special invitees who were present during the function.

Altogether 94 participants attended the function in which 47 farmers, 32 students and 15 officials from line departments attended the programme.

The function was graced by Obed Kamei Headmaster, Charoi Chagotlong High School, Tupul; Roshan Kamei from District Agriculture Office, Tamenglong; Dr Indra Kumar, ATMA Tamenglong; Rajender Ram, JCO 10 AR Noney and Dr PK Saraswat, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Tamenglong.

During the programme, expert from KVK Tamenglong namely Lavid Anal; Gaipuichung Kamei; Dr PK.

Saraswat; Sunanda; Lungkhong Riamei; Dr RK Roshan; Ginbuanlung Gangmei; Dr A Suresh; Dr Soibam Sinyorita and Dr Kolom Rabi discussed with the participants on different topics like "Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Padhati (BPKP)"; "Water Conservation"; "Judicious use of fertilizers based on Soil Health Card (SHC) recommendations"; "Promotion of oilseed cultivation"; "Promotion of less water consuming nutri-cereal crops"; "Promotion of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO)" and "Promotion of quality seed production" etc.

As a part of the programme, prizes were distributed to the school students of Charoi Chagotlong High School, Tupul for drawing cum painting competition which was held on September 30 under Swachata Hi Seva Campaign.

THOUBAL: While celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, District Administration, Thoubal has organised a launching programme of GPDP (Gram Panchayat Development Plan) 2020-21 at the counting hall of DC office complex, Thoubal today.

The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, N Bandana Devi as the chief guest, SP, Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha Singh as the guest of honour and ADC/ADM, Thoubal L Radhakanta Singh as the functional president.

Speaking on the occasion, N Bandana Devi urged all to follow the Gandhian principles of truth and non-violence and expressed the need to eliminate crimes against women and children in the district.

She also emphasized the importance of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign and sought cooperation of the people to help maintain the district clean and green.

SP, Thoubal, Dr S Ibomcha Singh also urged all concerned to keep public places or surroundings clean and to avoid the use of any forms of tobacco products to ensure a healthy environment.

ADC, Thoubal L Radhakanta led the gathering in taking the pledge not to smoke and consume any types of tobacco products and also to keep the campus of any institution tobacco free.

Resource persons who spoke on the occasion were Moirangmayum Sanahal Singh (MES), AI on 'Gandhi'; Dr Thuingaren Sario, Nodal Officer, Day Care Chemotherapy, OPD, District Hospital, Thoubal and Ng Somorendro, EE, DRDA, Thoubal.

Altogether 32 District functionaries were felicitated on the occasion with certificates for effective implementation of Swachhata Hi Seva, Poshan Maah and other programmes in the district.

The function was attended by DLOs and staff of DC office, Thoubal.

During the event, a floral tribute was also paid to the photo of Mahatma Gandhi.

SENAPATI: Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who was also known as "The Father of the Nation," District Administration, Senapati has organised mega social service camp in and around Senapati town, today.

District Level Officers and their staffs, Civil Society Organizations and Student organizations of the district including some student representatives from different schools of the district headquarters, shop keepers, women vendors and well wishers came and participated at the cleanliness drive.

Before the commencement of the social service, Senapati's DC, Somorjit Salam urged all not to use single use plastic of any form to keep the environment clean and pollution free.

On the other hand, while observing Gandhi Jayanti, All Manipur Gorkha Student's Union (AMGSU) conducted a cleanliness drive at Shri Shri Govindaji Temple, Palace Compound, today.

A press release issued by AMGSU said that the drive was organised to raise awareness about the benefits of leading a healthy liftestyle among the students.

TENGNOUPAL: Tengnoupal district police in coordination with district administration Tengnoupal jointly conducted a cleanliness drive in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at district head quarter Tengnoupal today.

DC Tengnoupal H Rupachandra, SP Tengnoupal Th Vikramjit, police personnel and public took part in the cleanliness drive during which pile of waste plastic bottles were collected while DC H Rupachandra conducted an awareness programme on the harmful effects of using single used plastic to the gathering.

Besides, a cleanliness drive was also conducted in Moreh town in connection with the observance of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which was attended by Addl DC Moreh, members of Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organization Moreh, WATAM among others.

Moreh police also organized 'Swachhta Hi Seva' in Moreh town in connection with 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and cleaned the area in and around Moreh town during which the potholes along Imphal-Moreh road, Moreh bazar area were also filled.

Kh Robinson ASP (LO), Amit ASP (Ops), Meghabarna SDPO, Letkhohao Vaiphai OC and other police officers and personnel were also present in the campaign.

JIRIBAM, Oct 2: PHED, Jiribam Division in association with Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) and Jiribam District Administration jointly observed the 150th Birth Anniversary of Ma-hatma Gandhi in different parts of Jiribam including at Jiribam Railway station, schools, various Govt Dept with the support of the members of Friendly Environmental Warriors' (FEW), Jiribam today.

As part of the observance function, cleanliness drive and mass tree plantation were conducted in and around the Jiribam Railway station, in different schools and Govt offices of Jiribam district with the objective to keep the Jiribam district neat and clean, plastic free zone and to increase greenery in the district under 'Swachhata Hi Seva'.

During the observance function, K Saratkumar Singh, vice-Chairman, Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd, announced that cash award of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively will be given to top three individuals who collected the maximum loads of plastic waste from Jiribam in the month of October while cash prize of Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 will be awarded to the CSOs of Jiribam who also collected the maximum pile of plastic waste.

BISHNUPUR: The 150th Birth Anniversary of 'Father of the Nation' was also observed in different parts of Bishnupur district today during which mass cleanliness drive were conducted followed by various programme.

District Water and Sanitation Committee Bishnupur organized the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the theme 'the 150 years of celebrating the Mahatma' which was attended by MLA Kumbi AC S Bira and DC Bishnupur Neeta Arambam.

As part of the programme, a cleanliness drive rally was flagged off from the gate of District Court Complex which culminated at Mini Secretariat DC Complex.

In the drive, plastic bottle strewn along the road-side of Tiddim road were collected by the participants led by MLA S Bira, DC Bishnupur Neeta Arambam and Retd EE PHED Bishnupur Division L Gokulchandra.

Later, they cleaned the DC complex area.

A simple function was held at Panchayat Resource Center in DC Complex to celebrate the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which was attended by MLA Kumbi AC S Bira as chief guest, DC Bishnupur Neeta Arambam as functional president and Nachou ZP member Th Dilip Meitei, Retd EE PHED Bishnupur L Gokulchandra, District Social Welfare Officer N Jotish and DLOs as guests of honour.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA S Bira recalled the saying of Mahatma Gandhi that service to human being is service to God.

DC Bishnupur Neeta Arambam urged all to stop using single use plastic which is completely banned from today onwards in the district.
