Mock drills conducted

Aimed at creating awareness on safety measures in the event of natural calamities, mock drills on Earthquake scenario were conducted simultaneously in Imphal East and Thoubal districts today.
The mock drills held under the supervision of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Relief and Disaster management Department were conducted at Kusum Oil Pump, city Convention Centre, JNIMS, PCTC oil pump and DC office, Porompat in Imphal East district with Hapta Kangjeibung serving as the 'assembly area' of the drill.
Arrival of fire service personnel at City Convention centre to douse outbreak of fire followed by security force and medical personnel for rescue and evacuation work in a simulated Earthquake scenario were the highlight of the drill.
The Multi State Mega Mock Exercise was held at several locations in Thoubal district today.
Jointly organised by the Relief and Disaster Management Dept and District Administration, Thoubal under the sponsorship of National Disaster Management Authority, the mock exercise was held with the theme 'Be Aware, Be Prepared, Be Organised' .
The mock exercise was held with a hypothetical earthquake of 8.7 magnitude that shook Shillong in 1897 .
The exercise was held at DC Office Complex, Thoubal; Wangjing Bazar, Thoubal District Hospital, Mini Secretariat building and Thoubal College.
Various district level officers participated in the exercise.
Similar scenes were re-enacted at important Government and private establishments in Thoubal district headquarters.
