Farmers' training programme held

Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur in collaboration with the Thawai Mahadeva village authority organised a one day farmers' training programme at the village's community hall today.
During the training programme, Kh Upendra, Assistant Agricultural Officer, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur, gave a key note address.
He said that the objective of the training programme was to visit every nook and corner of the State, test the soil composition and encourage people to plant suitable trees, vegetables and fruits.
Addressing the gathering, Dr RK Dilip, Associate Professor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, said that the best way to maintain one's health is to depend on natural food.
Therefore, fruits and various vegetables should be grown abundantly.
He also said that planting of trees and fruits provide an ecological balance.
Dr Thoi Thoi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Thoubal and Dhaljit Thiyam, Mushroom Expert, also attended the programme as the resource persons.
