Imphal, August 30 2025:
Secretary of CAF&PD, N Kherda Varta has said that two convoys of 192 tanker trucks, carrying petrol, diesel, ATF (aeroplane fuel) and LPG have departed Jiribam and are heading to Imphal to address the State's fuel shortage.
In a statement, N Kherda said that the convoys, comprising 158 fuel tanker trucks, 5 ATF tankers and 29 LPG tankers, are expected to arrive within 2-3 days.
However, the actual arrival time remains uncertain due to the condition of the Imphal-Jiribam road.
A well placed source said that the first batch of the convoy which includes 100 tanker trucks, comprising 26 LPG bullet tankers, 37 petrol tankers, 34 diesel tankers, 2 tankers carrying both petrol and diesel, and 1 kerosene tanker left Jiribam between 7.15 am and 7.45 am.

The second batch of convoy comprising 92 vehicles viz three LPG tankers, 35 diesel tankers, 44 petrol tankers, five tankers carrying both petrol and diesel and five ATF tankers left Jiribam between 8.05 am and 8.35 am.
It is reported that all oil and LPG tankers have been dispatched from Jiribam as part of the convoy, and none are currently stranded there.
However, 146 loaded trucks are still stranded in Jiribam.
Another source said that six-wheeled tankers in the first batch of the convoy have crossed the Barak river.
However, the source added that the drivers are facing challenges navigating between Barak and Kambiron due to ongoing hill cutting work.
The source further stated that trucks crossed the steep and slippery stretch in the Barak area with great difficulty, aided by excavators.
Trucks with more than six wheels are currently stranded between Barak and Sibilong, as they are unable to navigate the steep terrain.
The most damaged section of the Imphal-Jiribam road is the approximately 34-kilometer stretch between Keimai and areas including Santikhunou, Nungdolan, Sibilong, Barak, Kambiron, and Nungba.
The source said that these fuel and LPG tankers are unlikely to reach Imphal within the next two-three despite the Government initiatives given the condition of the highway stretch.
Another credible source close to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) said that the fuel stock at the Malom oil depot currently has a petrol stock sufficient for 3-4 days and a diesel stock sufficient for around 10 days.
Additionally, the Sekmai bottling plant has LPG stock sufficient for 4-5 days.
Meanwhile, Secretary of CAF&PD, N Kherda Varta said that a review meeting was held in the presence of Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to ensure sufficient fuel supply despite challenges posed by landslides on National Highways 2 and 37 .
The CAF&PD, in collaboration with the State police and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, is coordinating the effort, he said and added that the Governor reviewed the stock levels of petroleum fuels (petrol, diesel, and ATF) and LPG in the State, which had been depleting due to transit disruptions caused by frequent landslides on National Highways 2 and 37.Saying that a meeting with stakeholders yesterday resolved to replenish fuel stocks and ensure adequate availability for the State's domestic and commercial needs, he assured that the Government will take all necessary measures to meet all fuel requirements for the people of Manipur, it added.
