Low new cases, deaths climb with 3 more

Imphal, February 22 2022: The number of new cases continues to drop, but there is no drop in the daily number of deaths even as Manipur clocked 42 new positive cases and 3 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate also dropped to 2.8 percent.

This is the third day on the trot that the daily TPR has dropped below the 5 percent mark.

Quoting the State Level COVID-19 Audit Deaths Audit Committee, the COVID-19 Common Control Room today said that three deaths were reported from Imphal East (1), Imphal West (1) and Tamenglong (1) in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of three more deaths, the cumulative figure of deaths due to the virus now stands at 2104 .

Out of the three deceased persons two of them had received the first dose of the vaccine while the other one was not vaccinated at all.

Out of them two were suffering from co-morbidities.

The 42 new positive cases including one Central security personnel were detected while testing at RIMS (4), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (35) .

The 41 civilians who tested positive are from Imphal East (11), Imphal West (15), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Tamenglong (1), Teng-noupal (1), Senapati (2), Chandel (1) and Chura-chandpur (3) .

All the 42 positive cases were detected while testing a total sample of 1478 to take the daily positivity rate to 2.8 percent.

The total number of cases reported in the State so far is now 1,36,548 including 5003 Central security personnel.

In the last 24 hours, 92 persons were discharged from home isolation (70), RIMS (5), JNIMS (6) and CCCs (11) .

The cumulative number of recovered cases is now 1,33,848 including 4977 Central security personnel.

The recovery rate has gone up to 98.02 percent.

The number of doses administered on February 21 is 6279 including 11,18,186 second dose and 56,342 precautionary dose.

The total number of dose administered so far is 26,75,573 .

Overall, 47.77 percent of the eligible population have received the second dose while 60.70 percent have received the first dose.
