Imphal, July 21 2024:
Around 400 loaded POL and LPG bullet TTs which left Jiribam on different dates with CRPF escorts during the last five days are unable to reach Imphal till Sunday.
Four convoys of loaded POL and LPG bullet TTs left Jiribam with CRPF escorts on different dates since July 17, sources informed.
The four convoys include 80 LPG bullet TTs.
A single convoy consists of 100 POL and LPG bullet TTs.
Notably, a convoy of empty POL and LPG bullet TTs was supposed to leave Imphal for Jiribam on Saturday but the trip was cancelled to ease movement of loaded TTs which are enroute to Imphal, said the sources.

Even though the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is responsible for construction, periodic repairing and maintenance of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway), the Government of Manipur ought to supervise construction and maintenance of the highway as Manipur is the beneficiary State of NH-37 .
However, it is not clear whether the State Government is supervising the highway construction and maintenance works, said the sources.
On the other hand, congruent to a statement made by a Government official to the media that there is enough stock of LPG, IOCL"s Sekmai bottling plant is likely to release 40 truck loads of filled LPG cylinders on Monday.
Meanwhile, a key functionary of the All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association informed The Sangai Express that there would be no movement of empty POL and LPG bullet TTs for three days from Monday.
Following complaints from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) that they are getting little time to repair NH-37 due to continuous movement of a large number of heavy trucks, the association decided to suspend movement of empty TTs for three days so that NHIDCL can repair the highway, said the sources.
The condition of NH-37 has deteriorated to such a level that it is no longer fit for movement of any kind of vehicle.
Nonetheless, Police Headquarters today issued an order for movement of empty TTs with CRPF escorts on Monday.
Despite the order, there will be no movement of empty TTs on NH-37 for three days starting from Monday, said the All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association.
