Possibility of medical oxygen running low not ruled out, drugs on move

On account of the record-breaking highway blockades, the possibility of medical oxygen exhausting cannot be ruled out entirely though it is not acute any more.
However, following the Government's assurance to compensate for the drugs set afire by blockade supporters, drug companies have started dispatching medicine to the State.
A high-ranking official of Health Department informed The Sangai Express that the existing stock of medical oxygen is not at all assuring in view of the prolonged blockade though the stock has improved considerably.
The stock available 10 days back has been divided into two groups.
One for use in normal situation which would last for 8/9 days, and another for use in emergency situation which would last for 25 days.
Shija Hospitals and Research Institutes' Managing Director Dr Palin informed that the oxygen stock available in their hospital is not very healthy.

As for JNIMS, one official said that the stock position of oxygen could not be figured exactly, today being a holiday.
Likewise, no exact information could not culled about the stock position of oxygen at RIMS.
On the other hand, drug companies which refused to send drugs to Manipur subsequent upon burning of four trucks carrying drugs at Oinamlong along Imphal-Jiribam highway last month have changed their stand.
The drug companies have started sending drugs to the State following assurance of the State Government to compensate them.
The official further conjectured that the current stock of drugs might be 80 per cent of the total capacity.
