HPFA retain Major Bob Khathing football tournament title

Defending champions Hunphun Phungcham Football Association (HPFA) were crowned the champions of the 10th edition Major Bob Khathing Football tournament with a 2-1 beating of Haokok FC on penalties yesterday at Ukhrul District Headquarters ground.
The normal time of the regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw as Thotkadhar's goal for HPFA was cancelled by Haokok FC's Ninglumshang late in the 76th minute.
Eventually the match was decided via penalty shoot out where in HPFA emerged victorious by 2-1 goals.
Haokok United Football Academy in the meantime won the Baby Football League while Eagles Volleyball Club claimed the women's volleyball competition of the 10-day sports week held in line with the 112th birth anniversary celebration of the Ukhrul's legendary hero, Major Bob Khathing Ralengnao.
John SR Khathing (Retd IRS), son of late Bob Khathing Ralengnao; Brigadier Sandeep Singh, SM, Commander 10 Sector AR, Somsai; Col Manoj Shinde Commandant of 35 AR; advisor to NCW, Soso Shaiza; TSL president; UDSA vice president, Lucky Sareo and other attended the closing ceremony as dignitaries.
Before the men's football final, SR John Khathing who was attending the event as chief guest, offered floral wreaths to the statue of Major Bob Khathing Ralengnao in Awontang, Ukhrul as a mark of respect and honour to the National hero.
