Imphal, February 11 2015:
Regist-ering stiff opposition to the alleged unconventional regularisation of 17 contract staff of the Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank, the IUCB Employees' Association has demanded immediate revoca-tion of the regularisation order.
Speaking to reporters today at Manipur Press Club, president of Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank Employees' Association, Loitongbam Indrakumar said that 17 staff were recruited by the bank on contractual basis in 2013 .
According to the Association, regularisation of contractual staff is in contravention of the RBI directives.
And the bank is being monitored under Supervisory Action Framework (SAF) of RBI.
The Association also objected the regularisation on the ground that any action enhancing extra staff expenditure should be avoided for the time being so as to maintain profit at the last quarter of the financial year 2014-15.The IUCBEA also pledged not to tolerate any kind of negligence to instruction of SAF.
Among the 17 contractual staff are the son of the Bank's Director and relatives of those in the Board of Directors, Loitongbam Indrakumar alleged.
An order for the regularisation of the contract staff was issued on Feb 5.The Employees' Association submitted an ultimatum to the Board of Directors on Feb 6 demanding the immediate revocation of the order for regularisation of the contractual staff.
Indrakumar warned that the Association would launch indefinite bank strike if the Board of Directors fails to respond to the demands of the Association at the earliest.
