AR pays tribute, holds medical camp

Assam Rifles of IGAR(S) organised a wreath-laying ceremony to honour rifleman Surender Lal Arya, who made the supreme sacrifice during intense counterinsurgency operations.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on November 22, 1995, Surendra Lal Arya, while on duty at Kalainchara Post, bravely opened retaliatory fire against insurgents attempting to attack his post.
His actions resulted in injuries to two insurgents, effectively thwarting the attack during which he also sustained injuries and was evacuated to the nearest military hospital for treatment.
Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries six days later , the PRO recounted, adding that troopers paid homage to the valiant soldier by laying the wreaths led by the unit commandant, who also shared the courageous tale of Surendra Lal Arya to instil deep sense of pride and honour among the ranks.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp in Kamjong district on Wednesday during which 42 men, 21 women and 58 children from Kamjong, Chassad, Pihang and Grihang Bungpa Khullen were screened for treatment and provided medicines free of cost, the PRO informed.
