All set for start of Assembly session

A new session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly is set to begin tommorow (February 28) .
Tight security measures have been taken up at Chingmeirong and its adjacent places to ensure smooth conduct of the House.
The Assembly session which will have five sittings will begin with an address by Governor Anusuiya Uikey at 11 am.
There won't be any session on March 2 and March 3 (Saturday and Sunday) .
It is said that Business Estimate 2024 and Vote on Accounts 2024-25 will be tabled during the session.
Notably, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has also launched the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to make the proceedings of the Assembly more accessible to the people.
The inaugural function was attended by Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh and Administrative Secretaries among others.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, the Chief Minister said that launching NeVA is a historic moment under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He continued that the aim of launching NeVA is to transform India into a digitally empowered society, facilitate paperless Assembly and make the Assembly more transparent, accessible, accountable and effective in promoting democracy.
Saying that transforming legislatures into digital Houses would be beneficial to the economy and environment as well, N Biren added that e-Assembly service is a prerequisite to promote e-democracy.
He appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Speaker of the State Assembly, his team and the technical teams for the timely implementation of NeVA in the State Assembly based on the concept of One Nation, One Application.
Addressing the function, Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh said that NeVA aims to connect all legislators and legislative Assemblies digitally.
Satyabarta also spoke at length on the benefits of the House becoming paperless and the benefit it will have on the environment by minimising use of papers in the House.
Delivering the key-note address, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs cum mission leader of NeVA Dr Satya Prakash said that Manipur Legislative Assembly will be the 13th Legislative Assembly to join the platform (NeVA) and become digital from end-to-end.
A mock session on the use of NeVA was held later.
The seven day Assembly session will end on March 5 .
