Jiribam, April 22 2024:
Drivers of heavy vehicles operating along the National Highway 37 on Monday continued their blockade and cease-work protest which began from April 19 onwards in condemnation of the government's alleged failure to protect the drivers from militants' attacks.
On the sidelines of the protest, a driver said that prohibition on operation of all vehicles including passenger service will continue until the government gives positive response to their demands.
It may be mentioned that following attack by suspected Kuki militants on Imphal-bound LPG and oil tankers along the NH 37 near Kotlen Kuki village under Tamenglong district, the drivers had called the blockade since April 19 morning to demand that the government make effective security measures.
