SHRI conducts heart screening camp in Tripura

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), in collaboration with Tripura Medical College supported by RBSK-Tripura and National Health Mission-Tripura organised a free congenital heart disease (CHD) screening camp for children aged 0 to 18 years on Wednesday at the Tripura Medical College and Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital.
In a release, SHRI informed that children exhibiting symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and suspected holes in the heart received free consultation and echocardiogram, screening during the camp conducted under the supervision of consultant cardiothoracic & vascular surgeon Dr Lukram Sidartha.
Over 60 children were screened for congenital heart disease, the release informed, adding that the camp provided free consultation and echocardiogram screening to all registered individuals.
Cases requiring ASD, VSD and PDA device closure, and open-heart surgeries were detected during echocardiogram screening at the camp, it said.
Informing that the children will be treated at SHRI under the RBSK Scheme, the release conveyed that the primary objective of Wednesday's camp was to provide expert medical guidance and early detection of young patients who may be at risk of heart-related conditions, particularly congenital heart disease.
