VA dismisses search operation claim

Imphal, September 21 2023: Regarding the police report published in the media about recovery of arms during combing operation conducted by a joint team of Patsoi police, Sangaithel police out-post and 5/9 GR at Sangaithel, Longa Koireng Khul and nearby areas on Wednesday, Longa Koireng Village Authority has clarified that there was no such operation in its village.

In a release, the Village Authority pointed out that Longa Koireng is an old village inhabited by Koireng tribe living peacefully and is not involved in the present conflict.

The village is under the jurisdiction of New Keithelmanbi police station in Kangpokpi district.

While opining that the police report published in print and electronic media about conducting combing operation amidst the volatile and sensitive situation will create confusion among the general public, the village authority urged not to mention the name of Longa Koireng village irrationally and without any basis.
