Govt urged to develop basic facilities in Kakching

Kakching, February 27 2024:
Senior Citizens' Forum, Kakching and different organisations of Kakching district on Saturday held a meeting at Kakching Old Age Home, condemning government's alleged apathy towards Kakching as a district.
The meeting drew the attention of the government stating that in-spite of Kakching declared as a district in December 8 of 2016 the past eight years had seen not government initiative to develop basic facilities and establish departments necessary for proper functioning of a district.
While pointing out most of the existing departments are defunct and important posts lying vacant after transfer of officials concerned, those gathered expressed remorse that after transfer from Kakching DC office to Imphal many officials of the Settlement Department intentionally hindering formal process related to land records/patta.
Forum president and former minister Nongmaithem Nimai, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association president Nongmaithem Sanatomba and All Kakching Clubs' Coordinating Committee president Kshetrimayum Dharmadash attended the meeting as presidium members held with the participation of members of the Forum and representatives of different clubs and organisation in Kakching district.
The meet appealed to the government to resolve the land records processing issue by restoring functionality of the Kakching settlement office.
Urging for the immediate resolution of the ongoing conflict in the state, the meeting also suggested that political leaders initiate discussion on the said issue in the Lok Sabha and the assembly.
The meeting also resolved to demand the government to end the conflict and bring back peace and normalcy before the parliamentary elections.
The meeting concluded with the submission of an ultimatum containing the meeting resolution to the state government along with the formation of a seven-member
'steering committee' .
