Missing Nagaland youth handed over to family

Imphal, September 21 2023:
One Peyao Konyak, who had reportedly gone missing on Wednesday, has been handed over to his family members by Imphal East district police on Thursday.
According to police reports, a missing person case was filed at Andro police station around 4 pm on Wednesday wherein Peyao, son of late Moba Konyak of Monyakshu village, Mon district, Nagaland was said to have gone missing from Yairipok area.
As the police carried out investigations based on the report, a social media post claiming Peyao Konyak has been abducted by unknown persons from near Victoria Veneer Mills, Yairipok went viral.
Upon further investigation, Imphal West police found him to be at New Dream Rehabilitation Centre, Changangei Makha Leikai.
After informing his family members and carrying out the necessary lawful process he was handed over to his family.
Earlier, as per a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) by Yanthungo Patton, Deputy CM, Peyao Konyak had gone missing under the influence of drugs.
Peyao was reported to have been abducted earlier which was later found untrue.
He was working as a labourer at Victoria Veener Mills in Thoubal district.
The manager of the mill had also reportedly filed an FIR in connection with the alleged abduction of the Nagaland youth as the Konyak Union urged for immediate intervention of the Nagaland government into the incident.
Nagaland Deputy CM in his tweet wrote, "Had a telephonic conversation with the CM of Manipur Shri @NBirenSingh Ji.
It has been learnt that Shri Peyao Konyak, who was previously reported missing, has been located.
It has been learnt that he had gone missing under the influence of drugs" .
