ZYF welcomes Naga Peace Accord

Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has welcomed the Peace Accord which was signed on August 3 between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland or NSCN (IM) .
In a press release, ZYF General Secretary David Kamei appreciated the political will displayed by the Indian leaders in solving the Indo-Naga political issue.
ZYF hailed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Indo-Naga Peace Talk Interlocutor RN Ravi and other Indian leaders for their support and understanding to the Naga political issue and the collective Naga leadership under Isak Chishi Swu, Th Muivah, and other Naga leaders for their strong determination and sincere commitment towards the Naga political cause.
ZYF further said that Naga people have been waiting for the realization of their political aspiration with high expectation for a positive outcome when the Government of India and Naga political group(s) declared Ceasefire and engaged in Peace Talks after going through extreme situations due to military suppression for many decades in the Naga areas.
Hundreds of people have lost precious lives, "hundreds of women had been raped and their dignity and modesty outraged", hundreds of people had suffered grievously due to the impact of the conflict, ZYF said.
The font added that "It is apparent from the signing of the historic Peace Accord that the Government of India and the Naga group are determined to solve the long-pending Naga political issue." ZYF believed that the signing of the Peace Accord would surely usher in a long lasting peace, progress, prosperity and development in the region.
