Imphal, November 05 2019:
Janata Dal United (JDU) has expressed concern at the suspiciously silent nature of the terms and solutions of the Naga peace talks.
Speaking to media persons at JDU office today, its chief general secretary M Dorendro Singh said that JDU has pressured
the National Council Meeting, of the 16 MP of the Lok Sabha and 6 MPs of the Rajya Sabha, to ensure that the Naga peace talks do not affect Manipur in any way.
He alleged that the assurance by the Centre that the stakeholders including
Manipur, Assam and Nagaland will be consulted prior to the final pact shows that the Naga peace talk has the potential to cause some disruptions.
Expressing suspicion that the revelation of the details of the Naga peace talks might result in a situation similar to
the sudden incident of Jammu and Kashmir during the Winter Lok Sabha session, he expressed desire for some points of the peace talks to be made public before it is announced.
No agreements or talks can be successful without such points, he reasoned adding
that it is time for all the political parties, CSOs and the people to take a common and united stand in the interest of the State.
