Imphal, September 13 2015:
The three Bills passed in the Manipur Legislative Assembly which aimed at protecting the indigenous people of the State will not harm the interest of any community of the country as ILP is still enforced in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram, said Heingang constituency MLA Nongthombam Biren on Saturday.
Speaking as chief guest at the 21st anniversary celebration of LYS Cement and Steel Agency at Kwakeithel Makha Police Outpost, MLA Biren alleged that supporters of three Kuki underground organizations Zoumi, Hmar and Paite have been trying to crumble the integrity of Manipur.
A few underground groups now under Suspension of Operation (SoO) since August 7, 2010 have been instigating a handful of people in the hope to break up the State integrity, Biren further alleged.
He said the Government of India should be held responsible for such activities by these outfits.
Biren mentioned that unlike Manipur no protest was witnessed where ILP is still implemented.
The Churachandpur incident was caused by misunderstanding, the MLA said and appealed to all communities in the State to come forward for talks to bring about a long lasting solution.
Biren alleged that the unrest situation over the three Government Bills is appeared to be a creation of secret agenda of the recently signed Naga peace accord since only a few agents and underground organizations are attempting to slice up the State.
President of the function, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency MLA RK Anand expressed vagueness of the peace accord signed between Government of India and NSCN (IM) on August 3 .
He said the legitimate political rights of the erstwhile independent kingdom of Manipur have been denied after it was merged with Indian Union in 1949 .
Nagaland was granted statehood status in 1962/63 while for Manipur it was in late 1972, said Anand while adding that the political issue confronting Manipur is more important than any solution for the Indo-Naga issue.
The MLA alleged that the recent Churachandpur violent incident was the end product of the NSCN (IM) peace accord.
Anand pledged that if anything is found wrong with the Bills, he along with MLAs Biren and and Ng Bijoy will be the first to resign over it.
