Imphal, August 11 2015 :
JD (U) Manipur unit reacted strongly to the statement of BJP Manipur spokesperson regarding "Indo-Naga Peace Accord" and demanded a full text of the agreement from the party.
BJP State Unit spokesperson S Ibohal had stated that the accord "will not affect" the territorial integrity of Manipur in any way.
JD (U) State Unit Party General Secretary Lian Gangte said, "Our party has always been giving statements based on public interest and it does not believe in making tall claims just to gain political mileage" .
The recent speech of BJP leader S Ibohal is indeed unreasonable and shows the party's attempt to earn political mileage.
If he can make such an assurance just like that, then his party BJP must be able to produce a 'white paper' of the peace accord to the Manipuri public.
They (BJP) should not give such misleading and baseless assurances, he said.
JD (U) Manipur welcomed the few agreements that came out of the first round of talks held between the State Government and Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) .
The party also mentioned that it has always been demanding suspension of police officer involved in the death of Sapam Robinhood, inclusion of the five-points of JCILPS while drafting the ILP Bill and convening an Assembly session soon to pass the Bill so that the current agitation gets a logical solution.
Party president M Tombi stated, "Political parties should work together, keeping aside their differences, on this particular issue of Peace Accord.
For Assam State, an all party political team has been formed in their Assembly Session and it has decided to deal with the peace accord issue in the interest of that State by camping in Delhi.
Parties in our state should follow suit " .
