Imphal, February 11 2015:
The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed hands in the blast that reportedly caused injury to three BSF personnel at Napet Palli Thongkhong, under Lamlai PS in Imphal East on Feb 8 around 6.50 am.
A statement issued by M Sak-hen, director in-charge, dept of publicity, UNLF said that the offensive was carried out by a small team of the outfit's armed wing, MPA.
It claimed that three personnel of 49 BSF including an SI were grievously injured by the blast.
The outfit further pledged to carry out such attacks unabated until Manipur attains its independence or the security forces withdraw from the soil of Manipur.
Peace, tranquillity and development will come only when Manipur is liberated from 'colonial rule' and the security forces leave the soil of Manipur.
As such, the war on security forces would be waged until Manipur achieves 'independence', it pledged.
The UNLF statement further urged the people not to give shelter to security forces at their localities, public places and near their localities instead of staging a protest at the place where attacks on security forces happen by saying the attacks have panicked civilian population.
Rather, the people should stage a protest against the stationing of SFs at localities, schools and public places, it said.
