Imphal, February 28 2024:
The Court of Special Judge NIA Imphal East on Thursday granted bail to six persons who were arrested in connection with an arms looting case from the 5th Indian Reserve Battalion post located at Chingarel Tejpur on February 13 night.
They were given bail after the Court heard different bail applications filed by six of them and the submission of Special PP and defense counsels.
All the six applications arose out of the same FIR registered at Lamlai police station.
The Special PP submitted that the bail applicants have been interrogated one after another in police custody.
The Special PP also said that none of the arms and ammunition looted from the Chingarel IRB outpost have been recovered as of yet.
The defence counsel, on the other hand, claimed that the six arrested persons didn't take part in the unlawful assembly nor in looting the arms and ammunition as accused.
The defence counsel further claimed that the six arrested persons are innocent and not members of any banned organization.
Saying that no incriminating articles were also seized from their (the six persons) possession, the defence counsel sought bail of the six persons.
The Court approved the bail applications after hearing the submission of the Special PP and defense counsels and on perusal of the case record with a condition that the six persons furnish a PR bond of Rs 30,000 and one surety each of the same amount.
