Ukhrul District Election Icons launched

Ukhrul, February 27 2024: Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla has launched Ukhrul District Election Icons today to ensure maximum voters' participation in the upcoming General Elections-2024 .

Speaking on the launching programme held at DC's Conference hall, the DC Ukhrul highlighted the purpose and objectives of appointing Election icons by selecting prominent figures of the region as the District Election Icons is to motivate voters to participate in the upcoming elections.

She also mentioned about the important roles and responsibilities of the selected icons to reach out to young voters and influence them to exercise their franchise rights in electing the deserving leaders.

The target for the upcoming general election-2024 of the State is to achieve 75 percent voter turnout, she added.

As a part of the programme, the DC felicitated the four appointed district icons namely Augustine Shimray - Folk fusion Musician and Composer; Reisangmi Vashum- International footballer; Sorei Keishing- renowned sculptor and recipient of Vadraj Smriti Award- 2001 and Solimla Jajo - World Model Physique Silver Medallist-2022 and urged them to execute their assigned duties effectively.

During the programme, Nodal Officer Ringshan Shaiza presented an overview of Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program in Ukhrul.

ADM Duna Duo, SDOs Rohini Kumar and D Kamei also attended the programme.
