PHAM bag both titles of 1st President Cup Hockey

Imphal, October 03 2017: PHAM, Yaiskul emerged champions in both categories of the 1st President Cup U-14 Hockey Championship 2017 today at Astro Turf Hockey ground, Khuman Lampak .

The tournament got underway on September 17 under the aegis of Manipur Hockey with nine teams in the boys’ section and 6 in the girls’ section .

In the final clash for U-14 girls, YCCIC scored the first goal of the match but PHAM battled back with three goals to claim the cup 3-1 .

I Kundali of CYYIC opened the account in the 12th minute and led the match for few minutes.

But Kh Sileima, captain of PHAM restored parity in the 32nd minute from a penalty corner.

PHAM were again awarded another penalty corner in the 40th minute which was clinically finished off by Sileima to take the lead in favour of her team.

CYYIC, tried hard to come back into the match but failed.

The win was clear for PHAM when Ayingbi of PHAM struck the third and last goal of the match in the 45th minute .

In U-14 boys’ final, PHAM thrashed HU, Lairikyengbam Leikai 7-1 to clinch title.

N Dutta of PHAM starred in the final match with a hat-trick .

PHAM struck the first goal early in the 2nd minute through N Dutta followed by a penalty corner in the 7th minute which was well taken by Ph Missan to extend the lead by 2-0.Goal fest continued with N Dutta as he scored his second goal in the 9th minute.

HU were helpless with unending raids launched by PHAM who were already holding the rein of the match.

After a while, PHAM increased the lead when M Alex beat the custodian in the 20th minute which was followed by Th Kenedy the very next minute to make it 5-0 .

PHAM increased the lead when N Dutta scored his third goal in the 36th minute to 6-0 .

Two minutes later, M Rishi Dayal scored the consolation goal for HU to make the scoreline 6-1 .

However, PHAM continued their raid and T Pritam struck the last goal of the match to seal the match 7-1 .
