National Level North East Games, Day 5 Manipur lift men's badminton, women's hockey titles

Manipur lifted men's badminton and women's hockey titles on Day 5 of the ongoing National Level North East Games, organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) scheme, today.
Hockey : State eves thrashed Mizoram by a margin of 6 goals to nil in the women's hockey final.
L Bijeta struck home a treble in the 14th, 30th and 51st minute while Ch Sangai Ibemhal contributed a goal in the 19th minute for Manipur.
The third place title wen to Assam.
Badminton : Manipur clinched gold in the men's badminton team event after defeating Nagaland 3-0.L Unilkumar (Manipur) registered an easy 21-10, 21-9 against Moamongba (Nagaland) in the singles final.

In another match, O Aimson (Manipur) defeated Ankur (Nagaland) 21-9, 18-21, 23-21.In the doubles final match, W James and RK Cinir of Manipur downed Talia Kum and Pulei of Nagaland 21-13, 21-13.For the third place title match, Arunachal Pradesh edged out Assam 3-2 .
Athletics : Kh Romajit Singh (Manipur) clinched gold in the men's 3000 m race event while Shynshor Wahang (Meghalaya) bagged a silver medal.
The third place title was jointly won by S Romesh Singh (Manipur) and Ram Bahadur (Sikkim) .
In the women's 3000 m race, Nagaland's Tuchoi finished on top while S Premila Devi (Manipur) secured a silver medal and Jidalin Tympuin (Meghalaya) and Ritukhanmblai (Arunachal) jointly grabbed the third place title.
In the men's 4X400 m relay, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya and Sikkim won the first, second, third and fourth place titles.
Tripura topped in the women's 4X400 m relay with Nagaland standing at second place and Manipur and Meghalaya at third and fourth place respectively.
Boxing : Manipur won twelve gold medals in the boxing event.
H Paulinkumar (Manipur) boxed out Ringu Tara in the men's 46 kg final.
In the men's 48 kg final, Ghanashyam Chettry (Arunachal) defeated Gaurav (Nagaland).
S Nengneihat Kom (Manipur) beat Vabiya Gurung (Sikkim) in the women's 46 kg final bout.
In the women's 48 kg bout, N Jernina Devi (Manipur) went for silver after losing against Jenny Lalhllumawii (Mizoram).
In the men's 50 kg final, Manipur's Kh Rajesh Singh defeated Kipa Parang of Arunachal Pradesh.
Md Ibrahim (Manipur) won gold in the 52 kg bout after defeating Bikash Chettri (Assam).
The 54 kg bout's title went to Kh Haridas (Manipur) as he beat Kogam Potom (Arunachal Pradesh).
In the women's 50 kg final, Manipur's Th Yaisana Chanu downed Mizoram's Rebecca Lalinmawii.
Sh Sila Devi (Arunachal) defeated H Mema Devi (Manipur) in the 52 kg final bout.
In the men's 57 kg final, K Surchandra of Manipur downed Khunpong Wangcha (Arunachal).
Wanbuddien S (Meghalaya) defeated L Johnson (Manipur) in the men's 60 kg bout.
K Johnson of Manipur settled for a silver medal after losing against Arvind Pradhan of Meghalaya in the men's 63 kg final.
In the women's 57 kg final bout, Kh Shamimbanu (Manipur) beat Dorothy L (Mizoram).
In the men's 70 kg final, L Donoi Meitei (Manipur) beat Swadesh Ranjan (Assam).
In the women's 63 kg final, L Nilam Devi won gold after defeating Lalrinnungi of Mizoram.
L Dhanachandra Singh of Manipur downed Deepak Sunwar of Nagaland in the men's 80 kg final bout.
Th Aruna Devi and L Tombimacha a won gold medal each in the women's 70 kg and 80 kg bouts respectively.
