Despite conceding an own-goal and missing a penalty award Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai split points with ESU, Wangkhei in a second leg match pf the MK Ghanendrajit Imphal East Super Division football league tournament at Thau ground today.
After a goalless first half, ESU broke the stalemate in the 58th minute when Chingthangkhomba blasted an attempted clearance into his own goal following a goalmouth scramble off a Mathew Maring pile-driver from the top of the Citizens box.
However, the Soibam Leikai side, currently in third place, restored parity on resumption when a San-joy shot that ricocheted off the ESU upright was pounced by Ph Sanatomba for the 66th minute equaliser.
Earlier, in the 39th minute of the match, Sh Shyamsunder wasted a golden chance to take Citizens in front but his shot from the penalty spot was stopped by ESU custodian Irnorjit.
The first leg contest between both sides also ended on similar scoreline.
The draw enables ESU to preserve its fourth place standing at seven point.
YWC, Thambalkhong is leading the Imphal East league followed by Neroca, Laipham.
