In solidarity to the One day token strike of Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union, the All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union Monday stopped the supply of petroleum to the oil company at Sangakpham in Imphal East district of Manipur.
The petroleum workers had earlier demanded fulfilment of the rights of the North East Petroleum workers and drivers.
Speaking to Newmai News Network (NNN), Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh, member of All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers Union informed they have laid down six charters of demands from the Indian Oil Cooperation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Cooperation Ltd, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Ltd and Assam Oil Division.
The charter of demands incorporated the above oil companies bearing the loss of the quantity of petroleum while loading and unloading it as the company locked the outlet of the tanker after loading the petroleum and further unlock it while loading the petroleum, added Bhupenchandra.
