38 more RLI stations to be constructed

With the state facing a drought like situation following deficient rainfall, the Minor Irrigation Department has decided to increase the number of functional RLI stations in the state by another 38 RLI stations.
According to reports received from the Minor Irrigation Department, it has been decided to increase the number of RLI stations to 150 by adding another 38 RLI stations and make them all functional considering the apprehensions over drought hitting the state.
Earlier only 112 RLI stations were engaged in providing water to the paddy fields in the plains.
The report further informed that all the defunct RLI stations have also been repaired and 30 litres of diesel each supplied for each RLI on July 25 for starting the work of irrigating the fields.
One RLI station is providing irrigation facilities to 24/25 paris of paddy fields.
The new move of the department is aimed at providing water to around 74,540 hectares of paddy fields.
An official of the Minor Irrigation department informed Hueiyen Lanpao that the step is being taken up by the department following strict instructions from the Centre.
The step being taken up would be on a long term basis.
