A 12-day residential winter holiday home camp, organised by Beneficial Club, Meitram (BCM) in association with College of Social Works, Meitram Awang Leikai, has kick started at the premises of BCM from today.
The camp is organised under the theme, 'Steps towards a promising youth' .
Around 50 children at the age of 9 to 15 years are participating in the camp.
Resource persons from different fields will conduct interactive classes for the participants on child trafficking, child rights, juvenile justice, social crimes, cyber crimes, leadership training, health, education, personality development, traffic regulations, spiritual development and other issues during the 12-day camp.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA RK Anand and Kodompokpi ZP member Loitongbam Surchandra graced the opening ceremony of the camp as chief guest and president respectively.
Former pradhan of Kodompokpi GP, Sorokhaibam Manglemjao, Kodompokpi GP ward member Kh Tababi, Rising Committee Meitram, chairman Huidrom Angouba and Kodompokpi GP ward member Pebam Shantikumar were also present as guests of honour.
In his speech, RK Anand said that the emerging trend of globalization and its outreach in the State is the result of the dedicated services of the elders, who once were youth of the society.
While lauding the effort of BCM in organising such an event for the cause of a better society with the sense of dedication, he expressed his desire to expand the event in the regional, National or International level with active participation from different stakeholders.
The MLA also urged the clubs of his constituency to join hands and organise youth exchange programmes.
Kodompokpi Zilla Parishad member Loitongbam Surchandra, who presided over the function, said that spiritual development is a must to bring peace in the society and also to bring about good behaviour among the youth.
He also urged the participants to take maximum benefits from the camp.
