61st National School Games - Thang ta Manipur emerge overall team champion

Manipur emerged the overall team champion of the 61st National School Games - Under -14&17 Boys and Girls Thang-Ta, organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS), Khuman Lampak under the aegis of School Games Federation of India, today at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The closing ceremony of the school games was graced by Government of Manipur Consultant Dr RK Nimai Singh, Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Secretary RK Dinesh Singh (IAS), YAS Director W Bhaktaraj Singh and Thang-Ta Federation of India president H Premkumar Singh as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Champion Manipur clinched 23 medals - 17 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze while runner-up Delhi bagged 20 medals - 3 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze.
Maharashtra settled for the third place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.
In today's U-17 girl's 60 kg group, A Chingkheinganbi Chanu of Manipur struck gold while Neha (Delhi) and Solanki Bhumi Ben (Gujarat) went for silver and bronze medal respectively.
In the 60 kg boy's event, Rajesh (Delhi) won gold while N Bidyananda of Manipur and Amandeep Singh (Haryana) settled for a silver and a bronze medal respectively.
