Shillong, February 19 2013:
The Meghalaya based militant outfit, the Hyniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has called a 36-hour bandh on Meghalaya assembly day, i.e.February 23 .
The Khasi militant outfit informed Newmai News Network tonight that it has unanimously declared to boycott the February 23 assembly elections in Meghalaya to protest against the Indian political system.
The HNLC demanded that the government of India should clarify its stand as to why was the standstill agreement that was signed on August 9, 1947 terminated forcefully.
"And this was done in just six months of time instead of two years which was decided.
The Meghalaya based militant outfit then demanded that the government of India should immediately repatriate all the "foreigners" who had gifted the 'status of refugees' Since 1971-72 from the Hyniewtrep soil (Meghalaya) to their respective homeland (Bangladesh),"because it is the responsibility of the government of India who were given settlement legally or illegally against the will of local populace of Hyniewtrep.
Thirdly, the HNLC demanded for the Immediate withdrawal of all the armed forces as well as the political machineries from "Hyniewtrep Homeland" (Meghalaya).
"As per the declaration of UNO to the world's indigenous people, the government of India should recognize the right to self determination and self government to the Hyniewtrep and its people.
Before the Agression of imperialist government of india, Hyniewtrep was an independent nation till to the forceful agreement (instrument of accession and annexed agreement)in 1948," it alleged.
"Thus, as a mark of political protest a 36-hour bandh will be observed in the entire Hyniewtrep (Meghalaya) with effect from 6 pm of February 22 to 6 am of February 24 .
During these hours, essential service, emergency measures, media and religious activities are exempted from the purview of the bandh.
"Hyniewtrep national question is not an administrative problem but a political one.
If the government of India fails to respond the above issues on the interest of Hyniewtrep, the HNLC will continues to boycott and disrupt all indian elections including the Lok Sabha elections.
"We urge upon the Hyniewtrep people to keep away from the polls," the HNLC stated.
