Imphal, May 11 2011:
United Bank of India (UBI) has described as unfortunate that even after so many remedial measures have been taken up for the Churachandpur branch, CDSU is still continuing with its agitation.
UBI in a press release said there is no shortage of currency in CCpur branch at present as the bank has taken up measures in consultation with the RBI.
It added that UBI conducted recruitment exam in November 2010 and recruited 20 fresh staff exclusively for Manipur including three from CCpur district.
These staff are to report on May 18 and they may take two/three days more in joining the respective branches.
The release said that survey for the site of the second ATM for CCpur has already been completed and the present CCpur branch is looking for another convenient building to shift for comfortable banking.
Even if a suitable building is not available, it added, the existing premises would be remodeled/renovated in order to give more space and better ambience.
The bank apprised CDSU regarding these developments on April 28, however the students body is still continuing with its agitation, the release said.
It also expressed hope that CDSU would call off the stir at the earliest in the interest of the CCpur public.
