Imphal, May 11 2011:
In the absence of a Commanding Officer or responsible DDO, drivers, who are working under 9th Mahila Battalion (IRB), have not been receiving their pay since the day of joining service.
According to the aggrieved drivers, in all 37 of them joined service under the battalion newly established by the Government of Manipur in September 23 last year but have not yet received their monthly pay or ration money and other allowances till date.
It is said that all 37 of them are among the 1506 drivers who have been recruited under the Police Department.
While others who were recruited along with them have been enjoying their monthly salary and other payable allowances, these 37 drivers working under the 9th Mahila Battalion have not.
All 37 of them have been attached with 8th IRB (Commandos) and after a month-long training at 7th MR, Khabeisoi, they are currently undergoing further training at Pangei. As they have not received any pay so far, these aggrieved drivers are reportedly arranging the required expenses for the training from their own private pockets.
IG (Administration) T Pachou is believed to have issued an order in January this year in connection with releasing the salary of the 37 aggrieved drivers and entrusted the CO of 7th MR for doing the needful.
But implementation of the order is still pending leaving the poor drivers in the lurch.
