Folk drama fest from May 15

With an aim to preserve the folklore of Manipur, Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) will organise a folk drama festival from May 15 to 24 .
Speaking at a press conference held in this regard, Festival Co-ordinator Lamabam Gojendro said that MDU has been organising folk drama competition, festival, and discussions from time to time with an aim to preserve folk cultures like story of seven clans, Moirang parva, pena, music and dance and martial arts etc.
As a part of this endeavour, the drama festival is being organised with the financial aid from Union Ministry of Culture.
Ten theatre groups would present different folk dramas during the festival, Gojendro said.
Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU)'s Supchup Chimeiyang, Langmeidong Dramatic Union's Uchek Langmei, Aryan Theatre's Kao Phaba, Imphal Theatre's Chaoba Thonglen, Khenjonglang's Haorang Laishang Saphabi, Leimayol Arts Centre's Leima Yangdoubi, NT Theatre's Khamba Khamnu, People's Artiste and Dramatic Association's Sari Washak, Cosmopolitan Dramatic Union's Koubru gi Mamomloi, and Panthoibi Natya Mandir's Lairol will be staged on May 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 respectively.
