The recent spurt of child trafficking in the state has caused a serious concern for the state government and it is working various mechanisms to eliminate various forms of violence against children in the state.
Disclosing this to NEPS here on Sunday, Chotisuh Sazo, Parliamentary Secretary, Social Welfare, Child and Women Development stressed the importance of combating all forms of violence against children.
To do this, he explained, they needed proper mechanism with the active cooperation of various agencies, NGOs, individuals.
He also felt that they as representatives of the people could exert considerable influence on societal opinion.

Because they should publicly advocate against such menace like trafficking, violence, abuse and exploitation and through such acts, they could further mobilize others into action, he opined.
Expressing serious concern on the rise of violence against children particularly the child trafficking cases in the recent past, the Parliamentary Secretary said the constitution of Child Welfare Committee was in the process in all the districts and alongside they were going to enforce the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) in the state.
"Under these programs, all those children who escaped or rescued from the jaws of various forms of violence like trafficking, abuse, exploitation, etc will be taken care of,' said Sazo.
"I hope there will be a drastic reduction of violence against children once such programs are fully enforced in the state".
Sazo also stated they already had one Special Observation center at Pherima and many such centers like rehabilitation and observation homes were in the pipeline.
For which they have recently entered into a MoU with the Ministry of Women and Child development, Government of India.
"We are the 4th State in the country singing this MoU," he added.
He also mentioned that his department had been helping some NGOs that were working mainly for the elimination of violence against children.
He said anti-trafficking work would become more effective only when it was multisectoral and responded to criminal action and victim needs.
