Imphal, November 01 2009:
MLA RK Anand observed that instead of engaging only the Apunba Lup for talks, the government should convene an all political party meeting in order to facilitate the ushering of a lasting solution to the ongoing impasse.
Speaking to the media persons on the felicitation programme of MPP general secretary Y Khemchand today at Singjamei Leishangthem Community Hall, MLA RK Anand said he supported the talk held between the Apunba Lup and the government to end the impasse.
He however said that the government needs to engage all political parties and all sections of the people in order to bring a lasting solution.
He felt that lasting solution would not be achieved with engagement of talk to only a group.
RK Anand categorically asked why the Chief Minister did not include the political parties in the talk.
Alleging the government of killing people without trial in its attempt to solve the conflict situation in the state, RK Anand pointed out that the Khwairamband incident was also one such instance.
He alleged that the government did not function according to law even though they took oath to safeguard and work according to the constitution.
He said the present government has misused the NSA.
Observing that there is a practice of 'anarchism' in the land, the insurgency-related problems would continue to prevail in the state due to the reluctance of the government to discuss the matter with the MLA of other parties.
The felicitation function of Y Khemchand was attended by RK Sanajaoba, organisation secretary of MPP Ibomcha, media secretary of the party Y Mangi, W Hemanta, treasurer of MPP S Umananda as the presidium members.
L Sarat, father of (L) L Satish - who was allegedly killed in a fake encounter - also spoke on the occasion.
