IOC submits report on Jessami road

Imphal, September 28 2011: In connection with the survey conducted along the Jessami-Ukhrul road of National Highway 150 by the Route Verification Committee comprising officials of Public Works Department (PWD), IOC and BRO, IOC has already submitted its own report to the DGM (Operations) and DGM (LPG) of its State Office located at Guwahati.

According to a reliable source, the Route Verification Committee is supposed to submit all the reports prepared from different perspective of PWD, BRO and IOC to the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of Manipur.

Although PWD and IOC have completed preparation of their respective reports of the same survey, BRO is behind schedule due to the fact that there are various sections within BRO and clearance from higher authorities is essential.

After submission of the reports prepared by PWD, BRO and IOC to the Commissioner of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the same are to be forwarded to the Cabinet Secretary for necessary action, the source added.

On the other hand, according to information received from the State Level Co-ordinator of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, North East Integrated Sales Office, Imphal the stock position of petroleum products, specially petrol and SK oil in the State has improved appreciably after 49 petrol tankers, 60 diesel tankers and one Aviation Turbine Fuel tanker and 28 LPG bullet tankers arrived at Imphal on September 22 .

Till September 28 (today), the stock position of petrol in the IOC depot at Chingmeirong, which has the storage capacity of 1045 kilolitre is 1133 Kilolitre.

This is inclusive of petrol in standing tankers.

So, assuming that the requirement of petrol in Manipur every day is 70 kilolitres, the existing 1133 Kilolitres would last for 16 days.

As for SK oil, the existing stock position is 835 Kilolitre and it would last for 10 days assuming that daily requirement of SK oil is 80 Kilolitre.

For diesel, there are 1537 kilolitres in the stock and it would last for 7 days since the daily requirement of diesel in Manipur is 200 kilolitres.

Moreover, the stock position of Aviation Turbine Fuel at present is 286 and it would last for another 17 days, the source disclosed.

Pointing out that 80 metric tonne of LPG is required every day in Manipur, the source further disclosed that there are only 262 metric tonne in the bottling plant of IOC at Sekmai and it may not last more than 3 days.

Reports from the Public Works Department and Border Roads Organisation are expected soon.
