Stir suspended, Imphal-Moreh service to resume

Normal transport services along Imphal-Moreh route will resume from tomorrow as the agitating transporters have suspended their stir.
According to a press release issued by the Joint Secretary of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union, the decision to resume service was taken during a joint meeting of the association members, State DGP, Assam Rifles officers, SP Thoubal, SP Chandel, TDC Manipur and members of JAC Imphal Moreh Road Transporters.
It may be mentioned that Tata Sumo driver Oinam Nanao was seriously injured on the head when his vehicle met with an accident amid conflicting claims at around 7 pm at Thamnapokpi on September 23 .
Irked with the incident, the transporters suspended service from the next day.
In today's meeting, the State Government assured on immediate transfer of OC of Tengnoupal PS and foolproof security to the transporters.
The vehicles would gather at Pallel from 6 am to 9 am for security check to proceed towards Moreh with escort party.
For the return journey, all the necessary checks of Customs, Assam Rifles and police would be conducted from 6 am to 9 am at Moreh.
The vehicles would not halt at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal and Bongyang, added the press release.
