State dancer participates in International Dance Festival

A professional dancer from the State, Surjit Nongmeikappam alias Bonbon made a glaring participation in the recently concluded Attakkalari Indian Biennial 2013, an International Contemporary Dance Festival, at Bangalore.
Surjit displayed his spectacular Three Flavours choreography during the festival that was held with the theme 'Frames of Dance' .
The festival was organised by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Participants from several European countries such as UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland; and Asians like Japan, South Korea, Iran, Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and from America displayed striking dance forms in various categories.
Surjit Nongmeikappam of Koirou Mamang Leikai of Imphal East presented his dances in the Facets Choreography Residency category.
The dances he performed were Aniconic, a quiet landscape with Isak Immanuel (USA) and Yeonewoo Na (S Korea); Soft Machine with Choy Ka Fai (Singapore) and a solo dance U Define.
Surjit is a Bachelor of Arts in Choreography from Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography, Bangalore and he is a freelance dancer and experimental dance film maker.
He is also a contemporary performer at Bangalore based Natya Stem Dance Company besides being a traditional performer at Natya Maya Institute.
He had also displayed his dance in Imphal on several occasions.
