AR Archery team strike rich at 1st All India Police Archery Championship

Imphal, February 23 2013 :
Rfn Sunder Singh, Rfn H Brijendra Nath Singh and Hav Anupam Singh of Assam Rifles Archery Team of HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR (South) won Gold, Silver and two bronze medals in the inaugural edition of 1st All India Police Archery Junior Championship at Ranchi.
The team also won Gold medal in Team event in Indian Round.
The Team participated in the championship in Indian Round and Compound Division round.
Another ace archer of Manipur Hav Anupam Singh settled for bronze in Compound Division Event.
In the team event in Indian round, the team held on to their nerve and displayed a splendid performance to beat CRPF archery team to win Gold Medal in a closely contested match.
The 1st All India Police Archery Championship is being conducted at Ranchi from February 21 - 26.It may be recalled that Rfn H Brijendra Nath Singh had won Gold Medal in Elimination round and two Bronze medals in 30m and 40 m Distance round in the recently concluded 35th Junior National Championship at Hyderabad while Hav Anupam Singh had made his mark in the National event bringing laurels to his team and the State.
A press release issued by the PRO IGAR (S) stated that Assam Rifles had identified these ace archers and given them an opportunity to hone their skills.
It further added that Assam Rifles will always be on the fore front to encourage the budding talents of the youth of Manipur in sports and other fields as well.
Maj Gen UK Gurung, AVSM, YSM, IGAR (South) complimented the superb performance of the team and wished them luck for the podium finish in other events also.
