MOMA procures huge quantities of litchi, papaya for home delivery

The Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) has procured huge quantities of litchi and papaya for home delivery sale at reasonable prices.
The agency working under the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation had recently got its mobile app launched by the Chief Minister to ensure the supply chain of fresh fruits and vegetables to consumers amid restrictions due to COVID-19 second wave remains intact.
As a part of its initiatives, MOMA had today procured 10,000 litchis grown in Jiribam and 1,200 kgs of papaya grown by farmers at Kangu Chingjin under Imphal East district and started delivering to consumers.
In view of the hardships faced by litchi growers in Jiribam due to unavailability of markets, Kh Lokhon who is Cashewnut Development Officer facilitated in delivering the consignment of 10,000 litchis to the MOMA office at Sanjenthong today.
In the meantime, a huge quantity of papaya was procured from an integrated farm called 'Lik-Lam' undertaken by a team led by one Pangambam Jayshanker at Kangu Chingjin.
The team had grown more than 1500 papaya plants but selling of the fruits was hampered with the restrictions placed due to the pandemic.
On receiving the information of the hardships, K Devdutta (Project Director of MOMA) led team rushed to the spot and procured 1,200 kg of papaya and made it available to consumers.
